During the pandemic, I have had to diversify my brand from making my up-cycled bespoke streetwear from vintage garms to be more in line with what the customer needs during the pandemic and now a recession! I started to turn my unsold stock into sustainable face masks, which has kept me sooo busy, with them being stocked in a couple of boutique in London & pushing my bespoke denim business :) I have even fitted in an elevator pitch with Trinny London, which I was terrified doing because I had to show my face and I have always been mute on social media. If you want your own personalised denim jacket as the above click here.

I am inspired by hip hop and my muses range from Asap Rocky, Rihanna, Tyler the Creator & more. I was blessed enough to be able to have customers reach out to me to paint them one-off jackets with Travis Scott 'Astronomical, Lil Uzi Vert, a 90s inspired hip hop jacket with Clueless patterns, and artists such as Lauren Hill, Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah, TLC & J-lo - currently working on an ASAP Rocky jacket so stay tuned! I missed making my bespoke custom denim jackets as the pandemic has meant people have less places to go and with restrictions demand for my jackets has decreased so I reached out to Curtis Waters as I loved his positive energy and the fact that his roots were also from Nepal and he like myself broke the typical stereotype of a white-collar profession which is quite normal to be encouraged to follow by family. He started lockdown as a student making music in his bedroom and emerged 3 months later with TikTok's number hit song 'Stunnin' with over 100,000,000 streams on Spotify and the Tiktok Community going crazy for his song, including me!

Myself being a fashion designer and going through the cultural journey to break down the norm and follow a creative profession, which made my parents nervous - made me reach out to Curtis and ask if I could make him a bespoke hand made jacket in tune with his Nepali heritage and his then-new single 'The feelings tend to stay the same'. Whilst single-handedly and with the help of my mum and dad making 100's of face masks weekly I tried my best to fit in time to make this jacket, it took me two weeks to complete but it was so worth it!

The jacket was a raw piece at the beginning, I dyed it blue, hand-embroidered onto it the moto of my brand, 'I am who I am. Your approval is not needed', in Nepali transcript. I painted clouds all over the blue denim jacket & hat as to me it evoked positivity. There is also a heart under the collar :) The jacket took a month (cries) to get to Curtis, and was such an emotional roller coaster for as I paid for the next day International delivery and the parcel got stuck in customs for weeks, flying back and forth between states due to an error by FedEx and Parcel Force. I was chasing daily - missed his single drop due to the delay and Curtis had started promoting his new single 'Freckles' but finally, weeks later it arrived and Curtis sent through the pictures of him wearing it - he loved it, I was so happy all that hard work did not go down the pan! I suppose the message I am trying to get at is fight those cultural barriers, there are no rules to how you should live your life and what career you SHOULD do. Follow your dreams and do not give up because honestly, you get closer each day. It's bloody hard but focus on the good, overcome the bad, and your already halfway there.

How to deliver an elevator pitch to Trinny Woodall

Sooooo I got to speak to Trinny Woodall owner of Trinny London about Quillattire in the form of an elevator pitch, I had 30 seconds to preach about the brand and what it stood for. For those who do not know, my names Priya Jangda the owner of Quillattire, i do not really show myself but here it goes :)

Can I just say I love Trinny Woodall she is such an inspirational woman and oozes confidence in everything she does with her quirky and humorous ways. I used to watch her all the time on ‘What not to wear’, so this was a massive deal for me, to be speaking to a woman who has built her career as a TV celebrity and now has her own successful makeup line called Trinny London (Major goals!).

The behind the scenes were not as glamorous as it appears, I was sweating heaps from nervousness & fear of screwing up! The plant is there to hide the storm of paper patterns, fabrics, and order sheets. I am also perched up next to the window sill, clever camera positioning by me.

I had 30 seconds to deliver my elevator pitch —> talk sustainable fashion and what the story of Quillattire is and how I got into this all. Can I just add 30 seconds to deliver an elevator pitch is tough! There is so much to talk to about, and so much clock-watching & minor breakdowns when you forget everything! I was super nervous as I never show my face against my brand, not sure if that’s linked to confidence but I did it! I did have to watch Oprah Winfrey do a motivational speech on Youtube before this so I was full of positive vibes and feeling that I could run the world…Girls!

We spoke about how my love for designing for high street brands had faded away due to their constant churning of clothes and no thought process into the impact it was causing our world. I spoke about how I sell sweats & hoodies that are made from biodegradable organic bamboo, dresses, and jackets that are made in small runs and from end of line fabrics, masks that are ethically made by myself using fabrics that are end of line and using techniques such as hand painting.

Top tips for presenting an elevator pitch in 30 seconds to a celebrity on zoom/ in person are below:

  • BE YOURSELF! The best quality you have is you, you are unique so vibe of the energy and be natural.

  • Don’t have too much written out in front of you, just simple bullet points. I had so much in front of me that I lost my thoughts at times. Amongst the mess in front of me were hurds of fabrics and papers as I was in the middle of making orders for you guys.

  • Have a clear area around you, so you do not get distracted and have a fresh mind. Push away everything that is troubling you and be PRESENT IN THE MOMENT, its your time to shine :)

  • BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, the person you are speaking to is human too. They are putting time aside to speak to you, so embrace who you are, what your brand stands for, and do you.

  • Talk about your story, grab them emotionally so they are paying attention ;)

  • Speak about how your brand evolved and name drop companies you have worked for or helped promote your brand, for an extra grip on their attention to you.

  • Finish with what you want them to take away, I wanted my product to be seen and speak about how my brand was sustainable and we should all try help our world by working together and make wiser decisions and shop sustainable (Quillattire)

  • You got this ;)

Please have a play of the full video below, let me know what you think of my elevator pitch and please share :) I have mentioned the pieces featured in the chat below the interview :).

How to clean and care for your mask?

Hi Guys, I hope you are all well :)

Sorry, i have not been live on my blog for a while I have been super busy making my sustainable face masks for a boutique called Windfall Natural in Chiswick & Clapham. They are a lovely health food and sustainable accessories shop that stock amazing organic health produce and product that is great for us and the environment. Its been a whirlwind couple of months with my our masks selling out in 2 days of being stocked in both shops, and having back to back restocks that I am single-handedly making. I suppose now is the time to source an ethical supplier to work with - eek! Suggestions welcome :)

I have been creating some really exciting bits for Chiswick and Clapham Windfall Natural, the sequin, and hand-painted face masks have worked a treat! Also the printed face masks I have been creating, I use end of line fabrics that are from the end of factory production runs and have no more use or organic cottons that are biodegradable and great for the environment. Everything stocked in the boutiques is also available to purchase on our website :)

This is how we package each face mask to make them look a little fun rather than daunting!

FACE MASK HYGIENE

Have you noticed how dirty and creased your face mask can get in your bag or pocket on your way back from the shops? Well here’s a solution for you - a his and hers face mask bag, there are more options in our shop, click here. They do not cost a lot so it’s a good investment to protect your mask from getting destroyed or dirty and just to keep it in one place rather than forgetting it at home or dropping it on the floor by accident. I will be introducing a little keyring holder too to clip onto your keyring so you will never forget your face mask again! So stay tuned! I have been using these bags in my handbag as I found my mask was getting dirty and creased when put back into my handbag when leaving shops etc.

Our Gingham Mask Bags with matching Mask are a lovely Gift or Christmas stocking filler. Check out our sets here, you have a red gingham set, a mint as below, and a blue!

Our super stylish Trio of pouches

Our super stylish Trio of pouches

Our trio of three cotton gingham pouches above in blue, mint green, and red! Initially, we had made these to protect your face masks but you can use them for all sorts. Think makeup bag, pencil case, glasses bag, money anything really but remember whatever it is will be stored in style :)

Bags are 10cm x 16cm so a good size. All bags are washable and reusable.

My top tips for keeping your face masks in check are wash them regularly. You sweat during the day and whilst wearing your mask, especially if you are wearing makeup - omg it’s such a struggle now with lipstick! I personally have multi sets of face masks so I can rotate them during the week, I mean they are like wearing a top and bottom now - Essential!…

We have many desk to dinner face mask set options for you for men and women. All our face masks are washable at 40/60 degrees and can be hand washed too!

Protecting your face mask from other germs is important too, don’t just chuck it away at the back of the car or drop it into your shopping, keep it protected. We have given you cool pouch options to keep them protected and they are not too expensive :)

Please stay tuned to our blog, as i have some exciting bits dropping soon :)

Whats the best face mask to buy? Our Bespoke Customised Hand - Painted Floral Face Masks

Hey Guys, sorry I have not written a blog in some time! I have been super busy getting your orders out making customized denim birthday jackets and face masks! I have also started to create bespoke face masks for you so get in contact with your idea, here’s a link. If you email us via this link and let us know what you would like we can tell you what’s possible. Now with government guidelines advising the public to wear face masks in shops in England from the 24th July, it’s even more important to get a mask that suits you as we are all so different, have a look through our face mask shop here.

Below one of our best selling hand-painted abstract floral face masks made from a soft breathable pure cotton and lined with a soft smooth cream lining which is soft when worn against the skin. Each flower has been delicately hand-painted and fixed onto the face mask with heat so it will never come off. We recommend washing our hand-painted face masks at 40 or hand wash. What makes our face masks better than what is already out there is that they are all lovingly hand made, using sustainable fabrics that cause no harm to our planet or fabrics used from stock that have not sold and totally unique so nobody will be wearing the same mask as you. The reviews we have received from our customers who have bought these masks are that they are so unique, bespoke, pretty, Breathable and premium made.

Below the lovely @clu._ in her Abstract floral face mask which she absolutely loved! She purchased the multi pack which comes with two delicately hand painted floral face masks which you can swap between through out the week. She brilliantly paired it back with some tailored grey trousers, white tee and black relaxed blazer with white trainers - a really modern and pretty look. I would recommend the multi pack of Abstract floral face masks for gifts as well, so if you are struggling to think of a gift this is the perfect choice.

Below another hand-painted floral face mask again made from cream light weighted cotton, and white adjustable elastic to loop around the ears. We did not want our face masks to be complicated but stylish, modern, and easy. Imagine pairing this back with a white tee, black jeans, and a tan jacket or a pretty dress We could even make you a matching customized white jacket with an all-over floral pattern hand-painted all over or even a pair of jeans just contact us via the link :)

We also sell a multi-pack of hand-painted floral face masks where you can buy both the above face masks, follow the link. You will not be able to get a face mask like this anywhere else, it’s truly unique. It has been designed in house and what makes it so special is that it has been hand-painted. So if your stuck thinking about getting a loved one a gift for their birthday, Valentines, your holiday abroad or even for Christmas, this is the face mask for you.

The feedback from friends and family that have bought face masks from other brands is that they are not breathable and light. When purchasing a face mask you need to think about the season, if its summer then go for a light face like you would a dress, shorts or a T-shirt. If its winter go a little heavier, our face mask shop has a collection of weights of fabrics, and if unsure just message us here. Make sure you go for organic fabrics if your skin is sensitive - cotton is always good! A heavy-looking mask will be hard to breathe in, a light mask is always good in the summer. We offer an array of face masks for both men and women, some are reversible so you get two masks for the price of one! Check all of our face mask styles out here, we will be stocked in a few shops soon which is exciting :)

Our Face masks have been recognized and featured by The Princes Trust which is a youth charity run by Royal Prince Charles, Trinny London, and Internationally renowned Fashion United. Stay Safe :)

Fashion Forward Face Masks, to express your personal style

Whoever knew we would be in lockdown and self-isolating 6 weeks later and into mid-May 2020… The likeliness of things getting back to how they were before seems like a distant memory, but the ‘New Normal’ is testing us to do things differently. Looking at the patterns emerging from countries all around the world that have come out of lockdown, it seems a face mask may be mandatary to help protect against Covid-19. It's no surprise, then, that the protective face coverings we've been advised (and in some cases, ordered) to wear outdoors to curb the spread of the coronavirus have quickly been embraced and beautified by the fashion world.

Our bespoke stylish fashion face masks

Our bespoke stylish fashion face masks

I have been busy working in my studio designing sustainable face masks for the public that are not buying into our health care systems stock but something unique to the public, their individuality and personal style. Whenever I wear my Bespoke Leopard Print mask, I always get people smiling as its a colorful mask and it evokes happiness, which is so important in the world right now - to evoke happiness. It seems the government will be enforcing such rules, so we protect ourselves and others. Not sure why it was not imposed sooner, to be honest, have a look at our stylish face mask collection and pick one that works for you.

As you know ‘Quillattire’ loves its sports influenced clothing, so why not have match back face masks. Below some sports fusion, really cool and stylish face masks we have made using end of line fabrics which are sustainable, reusable and washable. So you save yourself, others and protect the world.

Street Styled Face Masks

Street Styled Face Masks

This kind of creative take on meeting consumer needs during the pandemic allows shoppers to adhere to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidelines without losing touch with the familiarity of their personal style. Masks may still feel like an unusual daily piece of clothing because of the way they conceal our face which is usually exposed, but that doesn't mean our identities have to be hidden too. By opting for the right print or solid colour with a lux fabric or sporty to suit your own aesthetic and making a purchase you know will benefit those in need, wearing a face mask can become more than just our collective responsibility — it can be an entirely new form of self-expression.

Work wear face masks

Please keep an eye on our website as we are always updating each collection to bring you newness. We always aim Sustainable and always good quality. In our collection of face masks, we also have three Tiger King based Face masks, that have been really popular with out customers. Other designs we have been creating are based on festivals, so full of color and happiness. Are you obsessed with the Style of Joe Exotic & Carole Baskin, from Netflix’s Tiger King?

One of the most gripping shows i have seen this year, and pretty inspired by the prints

One of the most gripping shows i have seen this year, and pretty inspired by the prints

Well hello there my cool cats and kittens…….

The whole world is gripped by the sheer weirdness of Netflix’s ‘Tiger King’, which features the weirdly flamboyant Joe Exotic and the strange Tiger Princess Carole Baskin. The world has been flooded with memes that entertain us for days, impersonations that are giving us lols done on Tiktok that are pure genius and even virtual parties that involve everyone having to dress up as one of the Tiger King clan. I mean we need something to help pass the time due to being isolated till further notice.

Joe Exotic in his infamous sequin shirt

Joe Exotic in his infamous sequin shirt

I think Joe Exotic’s sequin shirt collection is next level in a good way, in particular the blue and silver sparkles above. As quoted by Vogue:

‘ Filled with animal prints (natch), sequins, and tie-dye, his look is cowboy drag filtered through a lens of bad taste and shrooms. The result is horrible, hypnotic, and shockingly on-trend.’

The Patterns worn by Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin mostly mimic Tiger Skin. I don’t know about you but i really want a sequin shirt like the above and the below worn by Joe. How jazzy would that look with a pair of jeans.

Multiple participants in the documentary speak about Joe’s ability to draw them into his world, despite their reservations. While he wouldn’t be the first narcissist to suck vulnerable people into his orbit, his antics make for great television. The Tiger King won’t get to enjoy this newfound influence now that he’s behind bars, but anyone who can have Jared Leto dress in homage to them and leave Kim Kardashian speechless has made a definite impression.

Well luckily for you, we don’ just talk the talk, feast your eyes on our very own but sexier Tiger Style cropped bomber jacket with an all over silver sequin Leopard design in black velour, the neck, cuff and waist is finished with a black rib with lurex stripe, perfect for your Tiger King virtual zoom parties and when this is all over you can actually wear it out to a party or festival rather than your nearest Marks & Spencer’s, Tescos etc.

sparkle jacket.jpg

Sequin Cropped Bomber Jacket

Sustainability at its best, jacket made in house using end of line fabrics.

Now over to Carole Baskin, the lady we all think Murdered her ex Husband Dan. I mean both her and Joe are as bad as each other and both are in the same line of business which is exploiting animals. As a vegetarian i am totally against any animal cruelty and despise visiting zoo’s or aquariums that confine animals into spaces that are not their own natural habitat. I think its so unfair and we as humans specially at a time like now during self isolation we should appreciate every living creature deserves freedom.

Carole’s style is somewhat hippy, she presents her self as a loving hippy…..but is she… Dressed in animal prints and her floral head bands with big Pat Butcher earrings. If i saw Carole down the street i would not feel threatened but looks are deceiving .

Hello my Cool cats and kittens, its Carole Baskin here…

Self Isolation, nothing to do ---> How to make a Mask at home...

Hey Guys, pretty surreal time we are going through atm, we just have to remember we are in this together and will get through lockdown if we follow the advise of the government and stay at home. Sending you all positive vibes! How beautiful is the clapping for the NHS each Thursday, we really are together in this. Despite the scariness and sadness of this situation, the world is with us, no person bigger or smaller is not going through the same as we are, the whole world is united and we all need to really care. listen, respect and help each other.

Business has slowed down all around us, I am assuming because everyone is so uncertain about the time ahead..I mean I am not spending either just on food and my home bills. How about you guys?

So along side making new designs for Quillattire, painting and getting annoyed with my husband who has now set up his work from home desk right next to me and is always on calls (snore), I decided to learn how to make fashion masks with my off cuts, which means they are all sustainable (what a bonus!). The mask are fun and great to pair back with a cool outfit. I don’t know about you but I cover my nose and mouth when going out to the supermarket or for a walk now to avoid people’s germs and my own spreading..and I struggle to breathe with all that fabric on my face, so I thought I could make fashion masks for you guys to make things easier and also to give another option to purchase a mask that is not going into the stock that is needed by our Health care system (NHS for everyone in UK).

Above our Reversible Leopard print face mask, not bad for our first attempt. We thought we would give you two for the price of one (what a treat), we have made this mask reversible so the other side is black lace. You get two looks in one mask, how cool! Below an image of the other side of our face mask, it will be like have two faces lol

Each mask has elasticated straps to hang over the ears. This mask as an outfit would look dope with our Unisex Leopard print Shell Suit Bottoms and Black, Mint or Red Mount Fuji hoodies- such a cool , happy and colourful vibe which is what we need during this world wide pandemic called Coronavirus. All pieces are above are Unisex home boy clothes, perfect to quarantine and chill in, the masks would be great to gift for Birthdays, or general gifts for family or friends - so get involved. Free shipping for all UK orders, small fee for worldwide.

If you have any spare fabrics lying around, help yourself and others and make them into masks! I saw a post on Forbes and downloaded the pattern and simply followed the instructions below written by the lovely guys at Free Sewing who sew patterns for the non average people.

The mask patterns come in small, medium and large, what you need to make them listed below:

  • Breathable Fabric not too thick as you need to be able to breath.

  • Elastic for the sides to hang from your ears.

  • A Sewing Machine

  • Scissors

  • Iron

  • Printer to print the patterns

What the pattern looks like

What the pattern looks like

Step 1: Join centRE seam

Join the curved seam that is centre of our mask by placing the good sides together and sewing them in place.

Step 1: Join centre seamJoin the curved seam that is centre of our mask by placing the good sides together and sewing them in place.

Step 1: Join centre seam

Join the curved seam that is centre of our mask by placing the good sides together and sewing them in place.

Step 2 (optional): Press the centRE seam

This step has no functional value, it will only make your mask look better. So if you’re not too bothered about that, feel free to skip it.

Press the seam allowance on the centre seam open so the seam lies nice and flat.

As this is a curved seam, it won’t lay flat. But you can approach it with your iron from one side, then do the second half from the other side. Alternatively, you can use a tailor’s hem or cushion to press.

Step 3: Sew the outer to the inner fabric and attach ribbons

Screen Shot 2020-03-27 at 16.14.00.png

Now we will sew the inner (lining) fabric to the outer (main) fabric, and attach the ribbons all in one step.

  • Place your lining fabric down with the good side up.

  • Then, place two ribbons on the corners of one side (right in our example) so that they peak out just a bit from the mask, but the ribbon extends inwards.

  • Now place the main fabric on top of this with the good side town. You should now have both layers of your mask on top of each other with good sides together and two ribbons sandwiched between them

  • Pin through ribbons and layers to keep them in place

  • Now do the same on the other side

Now sew around the mask, making sure to leave one side open so we can turn the mask inside-out later.

Step 4: Turn the mask inside-out

Actually, your mask is inside-out now, so turning it inside out will mean we get it outside-out, or regular.

Just reach in through the side your left open and carefully pull the mask through to turn it.

Step 5 (optional): Press the mask

Now that the mask is as it should be, it’s time to press it. Before doing so, make sure to fold the seam allowance of the side we left open inwards, so that we press it flat as if it was sewn.

Step 6: Close open side of the mask and edge-stitch around the edge

Now it’s time to close the side of our mask the we left open to turn it inside out.

We are not merely going to close the opening, but also edge-stitch around the entire mask to give our mask some extra stability, and keep the lining at the back.

Make sure the open side is folded neatly inside, then edge-stitch around the entire mask.

Step 7: NOW GO MAKE YOUR MASK OR MAKE FOR OTHERS!

10 Top Tips for working from home during the Pandemic that goes by the name of - Covid 19

So I have been working from home for about 4 years now, so I thought with everyone being advised to work from home, why not give a few tips to get used to a different situation. Working from home can be quite mentally challenging although at first it sounds a treat. Work and home are so different. At home you can be yourself, relax, and just do you but combined with doing your job from home things can get a little tricky. With Boris Johnson’s announcement yesterday which said group gatherings be it social or work should not be happening to protect ourselves and others from Corona Virus (the dreaded word that has been coming out of peoples minds and mouth for a couple of months now). I now find myself working from home with my husband, but i quite like it as I always work alone so its nice to have a bit of office banter! I know this may not be the case for everyone and the thought of being home with partners and family is not ideal, the space was amazing, thats why it worked!

Lets get to the tips:

Tip 1 - Make sure you are still waking up early, replace that commute you will no longer be doing for now with a work out, go for a walk! It’s essential to start the day off mentally right, you will feel so good for it.

I usually wake up at 545am and get the 620am HIIT training class which is a short drive from me, not sure that is going to last as that will probably close but I will replace this with an online workout or a run. The waking up so early can sometimes be painful but you get used to it, I tell you one thing I feel so awesome after doing the work out. I always feel so positive and determined and energised to start the day. I have time to shower, fit in some house errands and make breakfast and I am still able to be at my desk for 8/830am.

Don’t be Gollum from Lord of the rings

Don’t be Gollum from Lord of the rings

Tip 2 - Make a space to work from away from distractions, sometimes working from your sofa does not make you feel energised to work as its so cozy, try to situate yourself in a less cluttered area where you are sat up right like you do at work. As tempting as it sounds placing yourself on the sofa may want you to just switch on the TV and watch a bit of Netflix, but you can get carried away so put on some super chill vibe music in the background instead. I usually listen to Kiss Fresh or ‘Chillhop music’ tap the link below for some chill hip hop instrumentals, you can watch the little animated guy typing away with the weather changing in the back ground, youtube gives suggestions for more on the right.

Tip 3 - Working from home means making more mess, you have the dishes from your breakfast that pile up with your lunch and any snacks and drinks. Keep a refillable bottle of water near you at all times, this will limit going back to grab another glass. I usually clean as I go on, hence why I start my day so much earlier as it just annoys me that my home is not tidy. Or you just come to terms with you will have a big dish wash at the end of the day or you just let your other half doit hehe…please do this at your own discretion.

Tip 4 - Alway ensure you take lunch breaks, have a look at your stepometer - you probably have not walked as much as you do when commuting and walking to the office or running around from meeting to meeting. Its healthy to get out or get away from the desk, make yourself some healthy lunch or go out and grab a coffee. With office life you have ppl around you to talk to about your work or have a little natter about what you saw on tv last night, how your date went, what your partner did to annoy you or what you’re doing later etc, unfortunately with working from home, the only socialising you will get close to the office bants is on whatsapp with your friends. It can get lonely but you have to focus and make sure you are taking the right breaks to break up the day.

Tip 5 - Try not to procrastinate and go on the social medias too much as tempting as it is, your manager may be monitoring if you’re online or how much work you have got done. You are obviously getting paid to do your job from home but be careful of that wandering eye of yours to see what everyone’s up to on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Keep your mind busy with work and give yourself a break at the end of your tasks to have a look if you need it so much.

Social Media is neither social not media. Discuss.

Social Media is neither social not media. Discuss.

Tip 6 - Stay Healthy, just because you are at home and have access to your fridge full time should not mean you eat bad foods. When our energy levels dip, it can be easy for unhealthy habits to set in (snacking on sugary treats and drinks etc.). It's important to have self-control. Check online and eat healthy, there are so many recipes for protein balls or biscuits, if you can not be bothered with making anything eat fruit and veg, help yourself.

Try to eat healthy.

Tip 7 - Make sure you don’t spend the whole day staring at a screen, its bad for your eyes so give them a break. Keep moving. Take regular movement breaks and stretches using opportunities such as making and taking phone calls to stand up and walk around.

Take a break!

Take a break!

Tip 8 - Keep in contact with work. Book Skype Meetings to prove you’re working, stay in contact with your work colleagues, this helps show your boss you are on it and also it can be boring working alone without your colleagues around you who are working on the same project.

Ain’t nobody got time for that..

Ain’t nobody got time for that..

Tip 9 - Where family members or housemates are also at home, it's important that they understand you are at work - ask them to support you by respecting your work time. Keep your door closed, and speak to them on breaks.

Get out of my room

Get out of my room

Tip 10 - I know this is not a working from home tip but check on your elderly neighbours if you have any, this is a super scary time for you and them and we have to work together. They are probably so scared about the coronavirus and having to self isolate from young people as they could potentially lose their lives. Simply write them a note asking if they ever need any help with shopping to just post you a note back and you will try your best to help them. We all need to work together to combat this, and not be selfish but spreading or catching this virus further. We sent a few notes to our neighbours and we got a reply which was so sweet just saying thank you and if they needed help they would post us a note.

Check on your Elderly Neighbours, be a good human.

Just to finish a little write up by Kitty O’Meara that has been circulating. Take care of yourselves, we can get through this x

"And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed." ~Kitty O'Meara

Black Mount Fuji Hoodie genderless

Black Mount Fuji Hoodie genderless

Turn the hoodie around and you have a bespoke in house designed graphic of the Mount Fuji from Japan. We have travelled to Japan a couple of times and always inspired by the culture and beauty everywhere. One memory always comes to mind which is hiking up Mount Fuji and from the ground watching night fall with all the pretty purples and blues in the sky and the amazing Mount Fuji like a huge shadow amongst all of this. We used this inspiration to create the Mount Fuji Graphic its subtly placed at the back with Japanese text on the side of the graphic translated in english to read ‘Approval not needed.’

As a brand we believe in encouraging to be true to yourself in the way you dress and not confining yourself to what society is always posting on the IG. Be comfortable being yourself and dress how you like, this is where our moto ‘ I am who i am. Your approval is not needed’ came from, you will see it translated into different languages through out work as we believe everyone is equal and our differences are all beautiful and should be celebrated.

On the hood of the hoodie you have you our logo printed onto canvas, when you wear the hood down the branding is right side up and when on it will be on the top of your head. A good fitted hood, we wore it on holiday and it started raining, the hoodies kept us warm, and protected us from the rain and we had the discreet gloves hidden in the cuff of the sleeve to keep us extra warm in the windy conditions. The storage was amazing at the front and hidden side pocket for valuables which also has a matte zip to secure all those valuables.

Black, Mint and Red Mount Fuji Hoodie

Black, Mint and Red Mount Fuji Hoodie

If you like what you have seen and read about this hoodie so far, it comes in three colours Black (click here), Mint (Click here) and a One off Red (click here). Each also has a front kangaroo pocket at the front for more storage and hand thermal needs and an additional added hidden side pocket with a matte dyed to match zip! Alexander Mcqueen the Most Inspirational Designer to Date 17.03.69 - 11.02.10

Alexander Mcqueen photographed by Sir Don McCullin

Alexander Mcqueen photographed by Sir Don McCullin

Lee Alexander Mcqueen died ten years ago today 17.03.69 - 11.02.10, i remember that day i was Design Assistant at Ted Baker and at my desk when the news broke, nobody could believe i just felt a numbness in my belly. Mcqueen was such a huge inspiration to so many designers and creatives around the world, he truly made a difference with what he did. I used to watch his shows in awe and get excited for the future because if the future was about creating such amazingness it was going to be fun ride. Today’s fashion is a completely different story, nothing feels organic, the meaning and inspirations behind a collection seem weak. Mcqueens prints and symmetry in his work was epic, its something that is glued inside of me. Anything symmetrical in art is so beautiful, his colourful and sometimes mono prints was so creative, he let nothing to spare. The world of Fashion is a weird one today but we keep ploughing on.

Alexander Mcqueen

Alexander Mcqueen

Lee Alexander McQueen was born on March 17, 1969, into a working-class family living in public housing in London's Lewisham district. His father, Ronald, was a cab driver, his mother, Joyce, taught Social Science. McQueen, called "Lee" by his friends for most of his life, recognised his homosexuality at an early age and was teased extensively about it by schoolmates.

At age 16, McQueen dropped out of school. He found work on Savile Row, a street in London's Mayfair district famous for offering made-to-order men's suiting. He worked first with the tailor shop Anderson and Shephard, and then moved to nearby Gieves and Hawkes.

Finding His Niche

Deciding to further his clothes-making career, McQueen moved on from Savile Row and began working with theatrical costume designers Angels and Bermans. The dramatic style of the clothing he made there would become a signature of his later independent design work. McQueen then left London for a short stint in Milan, where he worked as a design assistant to Italian fashion designer Romeo Gigli.

Upon his return to London, McQueen enrolled at Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Design, and received his M.A. in fashion design in 1992. The collection he produced as the culminating project of his degree was inspired by Jack the Ripper, and was famously bought in its entirety by the well-known London stylist and eccentric Isabella Blow. She became a long-time friend of McQueen's, as well as an advocate for his work.

Givenchy Head Designer

Soon after obtaining his degree, Alexander McQueen started his own business designing clothes for women. He met enormous success with the introduction of his "bumster" pants, so named because of their extremely low-cut waistline. Only four years out of design school, McQueen was named Chief Designer of Louis Vuitton-owned Givenchy, a French haute couture fashion house.

Although it was a prestigious job, McQueen took it reluctantly, and his tenure there (1996-2001) was a tumultuous time in the designer's life. Even as he was pushing the limits of what people expected from fashion (one of his shows featured a model who was an amputee walking the runway on carved wooden legs), McQueen felt he was being held back.

The designer would later say that the job "constrain[ed] his creativity," though he also made the following admission: "I treated Givenchy badly. It was just money to me. But there was nothing I could do: the only way it would have worked would have been if they had allowed me to change the whole concept of the house, to give it a new identity, and they never wanted me to do that." Even with his reservations about his work, McQueen won British Designer of the Year in 1996, 1997, and 2001, all during his time at Givenchy.

Booming Business

In 2000, Gucci bought a 51 percent stake in Alexander McQueen's private company, and provided the capital for McQueen to expand his business. McQueen left Givenchy shortly thereafter. In 2003, McQueen was declared International Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by the Queen of England, and won yet another British Designer of the Year honor. Meanwhile, McQueen opened stores in New York, Milan, London, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

With the help of Gucci's investment, McQueen became more successful than ever. Already known for the flair and passion of his shows, he produced even more interesting spectacles after leaving Givenchy. For example, a hologram of model Kate Moss floated ethereally at the showing of his 2006 Fall/Winter line.

McQueen was also known for not being shy about his lack of traditional good looks or his lower-class background. One acquaintance described that during a first encounter, McQueen was "wearing a lumberjack shirt with the most low-class kind of schlubby-looking jeans falling down with a long key chain ... [and was] quite podgy." Another friend said that his teeth "looked like Stonehenge." According to those who knew him closely, McQueen was proud of breaking the traditional mold of a successful designer.

Death

In 2007, the specter of death would come to haunt McQueen, first with the suicide of Isabella Blow. The designer dedicated his 2008 Spring/Summer line to Blow, and said that her death "was the most valuable thing I learnt in fashion." Just two years later, on February 2, 2010, McQueen's mother died. One day before her funeral, on February 11, 2010, McQueen was found dead in his Mayfair, London apartment. The cause of death was determined to be suicide.

Legacy

Alexander McQueen's rise from lower-class high school dropout to internationally famous designer is a remarkable story. His bold styles and fascinating shows inspired and wowed the world of fashion, and his legacy lives on. Longtime co-designer Sarah Burton took over the still-operating Alexander McQueen brand, and McQueen's contribution to fashion was honored by a 2011 exhibition of his creations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

RIP Mcqueen

RIP Mcqueen

The life of the designer was the subject of the 2018 documentary McQueen, by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui. Along with interviews with family, friends and associates, the doc featured little-seen archival footage of McQueen, his comments hinting at the troubles beneath the surface and the sad ending to come.

Olya Nyman and White Lily Styling Specimen 1

Who else is super gutter when you complete all the series of Sex education sad face what else is there to watch? So we will be going through the style of Olya Nyman played by Patricia Allison and While Lily played by Tanya Reynolds.

Lets feast our eyes on Specimen A, Olya Nyman and White Lily, love the gorge coral jumpsuit White is wearing with a yellow polo neck layer underneath and a knitted cami top over it - layers on layer! Well that is what we have seen on the runway for some time, layers layered on layers and it totes works here. The checkered Bum Bag is a nice add to add just juxtaposition to the outfit so its not all matchy matchy! Olya wears a Green Shearling Jacket, she wears this quite a lot through each episode and it works. Green with yellow stitch detail, poppers on the breast seams and zipper - big pop vibes, grounded by a black shearling collar. This shade of green is really nice and i feel can be worn like the new black, its an easy colour to wear - its dark not to bright but had colour and character! Love both outfits!

Specimen B - Denim Dungarees on Olya - Amazing!

Specimen B - Denim Dungarees on Olya - Amazing!

Totally digging the denim dungaree dress, i want one now! Olya wears these raw edge denim dungarees matched match with a colour blocked retro top, collar - neon green, top yoke - blue, body - maroon, sleeves - yellow. Do you love how the bike is red and matches Otis boring outerwear which is also colour blocked with beige at the top, maroon in the middle and navy blue at the bottom panel then Olya has the maroon in the outfit! The greenery around the image really pops those colours, if you’re digging this look customise your own denim by clicking here or below.

Navy Blue Denim with stitch detailing and rolled up from the cuff to how a bit of sock and full trainers! Again Olya is wearing a wood green jacket but this is checked with navy, assuming this is so she always matches back to Otis’s Colour blocked beige, maroon and navy jacket. The red in Olya’s trainers and top pop with Otis’s jacket and her wood green check jacket compliments the maroon in Otis’s Jacket! If you love loud colour blocking check out our Colour Blocked Shell Suit Bottoms, you will love them they are detailed with embroidered tigers and sequin and they are genderless - so get involved.

Specimen D - White Lily wears her layers

Specimen D - White Lily wears her layers

White Lilly wears Aqua cropped cardigan with a orange and green flower repeat, sleeves are ripped at the hem, this sits so cutely with the round collar 80s floral shirt, something your gran would wear but thats so cool - loving the spring pastel florals in lilac and pastel pinks and mustard. Underneath the floral shirt a mustard polo neck which really pops the whole outfit. Old school is the new cool, think Dot Cotton’s wardrobe but on the youngsters - super dope. From our collection i think White Lily would love the below Rose Print Shirt dress which is made from cotton and is so pretty with rose gold buttons and a tier just above the waist to split the print up - get the look here

Hey Babes! Dot Cotton in her Floral lilac shirt (love) but with long collars and a dope lilac cardigan!

Too many outfits that were dope! White Lily wears a Zig Zag knit jumper in dusky pink, baby pink, wood green, mint green, orange and lemon orange colours with you guessed it a roll neck in pastel yellow, i wonder if they ever washed in she has worn it for a couple of outfits - suppose it sustainable ;) Buttonnnnnnns, we love the buttons in complimentary colours to her jumper - blue and orange. Olya wears a what looks like chambray denim striped dungaree again with a cool little mixed pattern t-shirt - the yoke in blue with a small white polka dot print and the neck in red with a little pattern matching back to the stripe in her dungaree. Her green shearling jacket again! Please release series 3 so we can write more!!!!!

Who has been watching Sex Education Season 2 on netflix- wardrobes on fleek?!

I have not been one to watch much TV but as of late i have been getting your orders ready and catching up on Admin after dinner and watching Sex Education on Netflix! OMG i am hooked :/ Such a colourful show that encourages us to speak about sex more openly. I am particularly enjoying the outfit choices! As a stylist myself hehe i am loving the colours - i to do dress very hip and happening, well i think i do anyway. Anyway enough about me, lets get straight to Eric Effiong’s wardrobe played by Ncuti Gatwa :O totes in love, please feast your eyes to specimen A.

Specimen A - Purple Shell Suit Jacket with some coloured Trainers - OOTD

Specimen A - Purple Shell Suit Jacket with some coloured Trainers - OOTD

Following Eric’s journey with his sexuality has been exciting see him evolve from a quite shy guy into someone who really comes out of his shell and embraces himself being gay - good for you Eric! One of Quillattire’s moto’s is ‘I AM WHO I AM. YOU APPROVAL IS NOT NEEDED’, basically do not care about what others think about you, be a good person, evolve and do you! This is why our clothing can be quite colourful, we love expressing ourselves with colour :) Back to Eric his journey of evolving at school includes his elaborate, cool, and hip outfits - always so loud and playful! Firstly Purple is my favourite colour and this shell suit bomber is to die for, check the one i up-cycled its lilac with a cool varsity theme and Rara Fring, introducing our Lilac Sports Vintage Jacket - yup its a special vintage pick of mine, and nobody has one, only you if you purchase ;) . Sex Education Stylist has paired the Purple Shell suit Jacket with a pair of stone washed denim jeans and multi coloured Kicks, something Bape would be loving. I particularly love the aztec multi coloured insert in the jacket, i want one!

Specimen B - Hey Hey Coral Shell Suit Jacket!

Specimen B - Hey Hey Coral Shell Suit Jacket!

Oh hey Eric, love your Coral Shell Suit Jacket! Sex Education needs to hook Quillattire up for some garms, we have this uber cool Retro Leopard printed Bomber Jacket, same vibe but ours is louder - festival vibes, Coachella where you at! If you draw your eyes to Specimen B you will notice the aztec patterns, love a bit of aztec to add depth to the jacket. I am not too keen on Otis’s jacket though, tad bit bland but i suppose he is meant to play a geek whereas as Eric is a super fly geek!

Specimen C - Eric and Otis go Cam;ing

Rahim from Sex Education played by Sami Outalbali

O heyyyyy Rahimmmmmm! Doesn’t he look like Drake? Dressed like a Parisian Prince! Love the scandi cool look, with the worn leather Shearling collar jacket, black clean tapered trousers and white t-shirt. It was sad seeing Rahim when Eric chose Adam Groff over him :( Sad times. Ok, back to the fashion, we have an uber cool Teddy Boy Harrington Jacket that would be right up Rahim’s street ;) click the link to have a little looky. Coachella 2020 We Are Coming For You from the UK - Some Tips!

Coachella 2020

Coachella 2020

OMG so excited to share that we are going to COACHELLA 2020! Always wanted to go as compared to the weather in England a festival abroad is always a good idea! The head liners are Travis Schott and Frank Ocean - wooooo!

Not sure where to start though, flights to Cali or accommodation have not even been booked, i am not going to lie the prices are high but i am focusing on the experience for now and to get some dope images for you guys to see when i am back - as Drake said “Here for a good time not a long time”! Need to get thinking on outfits as as you know its proper bohemian fashion vibes -Sustainable Coachella Vibes, lets make it happen!

Thinking we should do a road trip but start at Coachella and work our way to San Fran, all i booked in a mad panic whilst on the Coachella 2020 website was the actual ticket and then as a contingency plan a parking space where we can camp out but then it hit me how can we be fashion in a car…. I mean it can be possible but what about the space, mirror, electricity?? AaaaaRGH so many things to think about! I will keep researching and let you know the outcome but apparently you can find some standard hotels at Palm Springs - booking.com at the ready babes? Obvs the parking space camping is the cheapest options and you will make friends as everyone drinks together at their camps, but lets see.

Quillattire is working on some dope pieces that we will be wearing at Coachella, so excited to wear the pieces! It is going to be so hot, so lets think less fabric but some uber cool customised pieces - Upcycling at the ready! Apparently there are sand storms too so sun glasses are a must, but look at the below taken from Vicky Flip Flop Travels, it says to take face masks!

How do you cope with the heat at Coachella?

Coachella is challenging. By the time I left I must’ve ingested so much sand it was heavy on my chest and I could barely walk round New York afterwards for breathing. One of my friends I went with had to have a week off work once he got home. Trust me, you need to wear your face scarf / protector thing to look after your respiratory system – the winds were just crazy.

I did a little research into how you purchase drinks, as it can get manic and does not like a beverage or two ,comonnnnnn you’re at a festival in Cali!!! So the queues are apparently hectic, and if you get spotted totes drunk then you get thrown out - so prepare to keep it classy at all times… There are lockers outside the venue that you could stash with some beverages and have a little sesh and social then pop back in to the festival, below a bit from Lucie Loves blog.

Q. Do people drink alcohol at Coachella Festival?

If you want to have an alcoholic drink at Coachella you must queue up for a wristband first, to prove that you’ve shown ID to say that you’re over 21. Once you’ve got this wristband, you then make your way to one of the penned off areas – away from the stages, and buy your over-priced beverage. You’re only allowed to leave the penned area once you’ve finished your alcohol drink – and not before! So, there’s usually a bit of a mad swarm between sets, to get to the bar.

I have started doing some research for people going from the UK by reading some blogs about Coachella 2020, some of them listed below.

I will keep you updated with anything else i find out, its always confusing going from one country to another and not knowing what to expect, but i got you!

Collection made from Up-cycled Vintage and Charity Shop Clothes

So we did a photoshoot a couple of weeks ago in a studio in Bow, we had the pleasure of work with amazing photographer Philip Von Der Heydt , his work is super cool and he has shot many big brands such as Baur Publishing, Blonde, BMW, Campari, ClickerMe, Condé Nast, Espolon, Frangelico, Glamour, IMG Fashion Week, Kunst Magazine, Laudert, Lands'End, L'Oréal, Lovemark, Madame, Maybelline, Nylon, Quality Magazine, Telcoland, Value Retail, Zalando / B&&B - please check him out.

The vibe of Quillattire has always been to be super cool, current and pushing boundaries. We have always looked to muses such as A$ap Rocky, Rihanna, Kanye West, Stormzy, Pharrell, Nigo and more. We love colour and feel either silhouettes of our product and styling would really suit the styling of these amazing artists. We are always inspired by there work that we love watching via ID Magazine, Complex, Hypbeast, Hypebae, Stylist Magazine, Vogue, Paper Magazine and many more. Each of these artist has inspired us in ways to try and make a positive change in what ever work we put out into the world, hence why we chose to use charity shop clothes from the likes of Oxfam and Vintage Shops down Portobello Road and Brixton and use this product to up cycle them and create something new.

The styling we chose was full of colour and fun, we wanted to evoke a feeling of happiness in this shoot and show being creative can have such a massive impact on our world. Styling for all our shoots is always done in house, we have a strong eye to style and the newest up coming trends so it only makes sense to follow this through in our photoshoots. Photos should be finished soon, so keep an eye on our instagram @quillattire and here on our website!

COMPETITION TIME

We collaborated with refashionuk an Online Charity Shop who have started a Charity Shop Revolution. Re-Fashion was born out of desire to make charity shops brilliant. Having heritage in charity retail they knew that great shops lead to better donations, and that leads to charities getting more money.

But it's difficult to create a world-class shopping experience on the high-street due to the cost, thats why they moved charity shopping online!

We were greeted with a recyclable paper parcel which had many pieces of unsellable pieces inside, a ‘Pretty Little Thing’ neon top came to our attention - the owner no longer wanted it due to a permanent mark - with a little hand painted retro pattern all over and a Happy Christmas Leopard with a Santa hat at the back, we gave it a second life and guess what - we are giving it away for FREE, details below!

Win your One off Piece (Size 4)

Our main source of Denim is from Levis, you know you are going to get a good quality long lasting jacket from this brand - we make it our mission to scour through Vintage shops in London & New York to find the base for your amazing ideas.

Sometimes we think to ourselves there seems to be no end to the amount of Denim Jackets out in the Wide world as we never have trouble sourcing for them - people obviously have good taste and have invested a good amount of money in this type of jacket as they last long. It is also amazing to see how many people are recycling their jackets instead of throwing them away because it makes our lives a lot more easier and purposeful.

Each Jacket holds a story and has seen someone through some time through a hard time and a great time, this piece is now going to hold another purpose and story to someone else for some time. In its first life it was plain in its 2nd, 3rd or even 4th life it has been customised/personalised to be something completely different and new. We get enquires to make all sorts from these jackets from weddings so the bride can have a Bridal Personalised Jacket and even the Flower Girl, Birthday Gifts, Christmas Gifts all personal and unique to each person. We love making your ideas come alive!

BIPC Start Up Day - Working for yourself can be lonely

I was lucky enough to be invited to the British Library for BIPC Start Up Day sponsored by Santandar. I did not know what to expect to be honest, just excited to learn and meet like minded individuals. When i got to the event there was an hour of Networking which was great, there were so many young people around with a passion to start up their own business. I met a girl who owned a swap clothing business, a hypnotherapist, a lady with an idea for an innovative hanger and many more!

There were various talks and mentoring classes on the day, the ones that made an impact to last in my mind were the following talks:

  • Facebook did a talk about using their platform to market and sell and how big the audience reach is, specially because it also owns Instagram.

  • Some successful businesses spoke about the struggles of starting up their companies, they spoke about not paying themselves for years because they were committed to make their business work, the mental implications of working for yourself and the positives when you start to grow.

  • How working for yourself can affect your mental health and how you can look after yourself to reduce this.

As it was Mental Health Week last week i was really happy to hear Mind do a talk about the how everyone can be affected by work and it affect them mentally. They spoke about it being something that happens to everyone but it is just not spoken about. The statistics they presented were that:

  • Depression is now the leading cause of health problems in the world, affecting over 300 million people globally.

  • Half (48%) of all employees have experiences a mental health problem in their role. Only half of these people have talked to their employer about their mental health.

  • 15% of the UK workforce does not have an employer. 45% freelancers say that they haven’t considered their mental health before going into self employment.

Mind spoke about what can be done to help yourself and build awareness:

  • Keep A Journal - Working for yourself means you most of the time do not have anyone congratulating you for your achievements so you more than often do not praise the things that you achieve. Keeping a journal at the end of each working day planning your next day and journalising what you have achieved most of all is important.

  • Talk about mental health. It is such a taboo in todays world talking about how you are feeling or if you do not feel normal. The worry of what others will think of you, the thought that you may be different or not understood but the reality is it happens to everyone but people do not talk about it. Talking is ok and most of all not feeling ok is ok. We all need to check in on ourselves and our friends and families because you never know anyone could be going through troubles and need to talk but just does not know how to.

  • Talk about walk. I am guilty of this, i find i can be too humble and not want to talk about my work or what i have achieved to anyone so i just make it sound boring and tend to change the subject when asked about what i do for work but the truth is you should be proud and talk about what you do. Its hard when you have no one to talk to daily as you would in an office environment so when you meet with your friends or family speak about your day and what you achieved or even if anything went wrong.

Looking after yourself is so hugely important. Making sure you are ok is something everyone should do, below some ways of how you can:

  • Add Structure - Make a daily plan each day, wake up have some coffee and breakfast, do your exercise, work, have lunch, work, have a tea break, work, go for a walk to if you need to - give your day a routine.

  • Leave Home - Sometimes working from home can be lonely and waking up and going to sleep in the same environment can be dull. Change it up, go to a coffee shop some days and work there, library - change your settings to make it exciting.

  • Eat, Sleep and exercise - you come first, you will not be able to be efficient if you do not do these three things, its just how our bodies work.

  • Celebrate little wins - This is so important, ensure everything you achieve you celebrate! Talk about it, tell your friends and family or spouse and go out for a meal or drinks to make yourself feel good about it.

  • Rethink rejection - Rejection enables you to grow and learn, its important to not let this get to you too much as you can only learn from things that do not go your way and get better. Trying is so vital to learn, celebrate that you tried, learn and attempt again - do not give up.

  • Always be learning - Make sure you sign up to go to these talks, meet like minding people do not single yourself out. Going to this talk was so refreshing for me to talk to people going through the same struggles and successes as me, i was being taught things i already have been but a refresher never hurts and new energy is always important to get you motivated! go to exhibitions, create new experiences - make sure you are happy because you always be more efficient when you feel positive.

  • Add YOU to the to do list - You are important, your story is important - allow yourself to be - change things up, its ok to take a day or two off to do exactly what you want. Spend time with people that make you feel great and get those energy levels up - being positive is so important when working for yourself because it is only you who can put force behind your ideas - no one else will so your well being is important.

  • Try to open up - Talking to people is important, go to networking events or talks so you can meet people in your position - speak to them about your worries they may have the same. Get out of the house, go for walks, call your friends and family and chat.

  • Have a Wellbeing Action Plan - Make sure you are active, this is important for your body to function well. Write down things you love doing and make sure you are doing things from that list every week. You do not want to look back at your life and have any regrets - fill your life with experiences and happy memories. Make time for you.

I hope this little write up helps even one person. Feel free to just write a message to us anonymously and talk about how your feeling if you fancy a chat :)

Signup to Event Brite, there are many talks that are always happening well if you’re in London. Google events and go - most are usually free.

'Encouraging Unity': Designer Priya Jangda discusses Quillattire's SS20 Collection

We invited Yuwei the Journalist to our Sustainable Fashion Show During London Fashion Week. She talks in her blog about her thoughts of the collection and the meaning behind the collection in our eyes. Have a click below through to her blog and have a read, a little teaser below..

‘I am who I am. Your Approval Is Not Needed." is the brand's mantra and is founded on the codes of giving fabrics a new life. On top of that, the genderless, retro streetwear brand strives to represent youth, individual style and self-expression. The entire collection is made from second-hand clothing, which Priya has deconstructed, painted, embellished and embroidered to make each piece new again.’

‘The sustainability message was spread loud and clear at the show with models adorned in hard-hitting climate change fashion. Using elements of different cultures featured in the collection, Priya wanted to showcase that together we can make a change in the world. The line up of bright colours and slogan prints sprinkled some extra seeds of rebellion to the presentation. What stood out particularly were 3 looks:’
